Aware of the challenges posed
by global warming, the Group
is involved in a number of
specif ic initiatives, such as
the development of tailored
f inancing solutions for the
various public-private players
engaged in the energy transition,
in particular renewable energy,
and support for companies
engaged in efforts to achieve
sustainable development
or optimize their energy
consumption. Today, the Group
is a key player in Africa’s
energy transition, with over
MAD 13.5 billion in cumulative
commitments to green projects
since 2011, including over MAD
9 billion dedicated to major
renewable energy projects with a
cumulative capacity of over 2000
MW.
GREEN CLIMATE FUND
ACCREDITATION
In 2019, the Attijariwafa bank
Group obtained accreditation
from the United Nations
Green Climate Fund (GCF) as
a f inancial intermediary for
the implementation of green
f inancing in Africa.
As such, in 2022 the Group
focused on structuring GCF-
eligible f inancing programs,
including energy eff iciency
projects involving local
authorities in Morocco, in
partnership with AMEE,
adaptation of Morocco’s regions
to climate change (water,
sanitation and resilience) as well
as support for the Tunisian Solar
Plan to f inance 18 solar energy
projects with a capacity of 260
MW.
